ADHD Evaluation

We start every ADHD evaluation with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to fully understand your symptoms and rule out other conditions. If indicated, we then move into a dedicated ADHD evaluation process — a thoughtful, collaborative series of sessions designed to give you clear answers and a personalized path forward. Whether in-person at our San Jose or Walnut Creek office or comfortably via secure telehealth, this process is gentle, thorough, and centered entirely on you.

What to Expect in Your ADHD Evaluation

Your ADHD evaluation is built to be supportive and clear from the very first step. It always begins with our Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation to understand the full picture of your symptoms and experiences.

If an ADHD-specific evaluation is recommended, it includes a minimum of three 50-minute sessions:

  • Session 1 & 2: Focused diagnostic interview and discussion of assessment tools

  • Session 3: Review of findings, diagnosis, and personalized treatment options

Three sessions are the standard foundation for a clear diagnosis. Depending on the complexity of your situation, we may recommend additional sessions — this will always be discussed openly with you.

Important note for controlled substances

If medication is part of your plan, an in-person session is required once at the start and once yearly thereafter, with follow-up appointments at least every three months.

Extra Option: Formal Diagnostic Evaluation & Documentation

Some clients request a more comprehensive formal ADHD diagnostic evaluation report. This additional service (typically 60–90 minutes of provider time) includes detailed written documentation that can be used for ADA accommodations at work or school, as well as other necessary forms or letters.

This process is never rushed. It’s designed to give you real understanding, practical next steps, and a sense of relief that someone truly “gets it.”
